Tamás Szvet|Solar Eclipse Workshop
The workshop inspirited by the fact that Hualien has a special light and shadow conditions, due to its geographical position. For example an ANNULAR SOLAR ECLIPSE will occur on the 21st of June when the Moon will pass between Earth and the Sun, thereby totally or partly obscuring the image of the Sun for a viewer on Earth. This rare event in Taiwan will be only visible in the middle of the island, like in Hualien County. The ancestors were believed that the “Sky Dog” 天狗食日eats the Sun during the eclipse, therefore they used a drum to scare the dog. In the workshop we will build paper cameras to watch the phenomenon, and to scare the sky dog away.”
