Gihak ArtLab Artist Talk|Huang Ai-Chun X Miao Castle

The scenery along the way between condensation and flow

The artists who came to Gihak ArtLab this month are Huang Ai-Chun and Miao Castle. One is a diverse creator and the other is an oil painter, but they both love to travel. Huang Ai-Chun came to Hualien this time to collect materials for her third animation work, which will become a series with the previous two animations "The Holy Mountain" and "Crowded Dreams"! In her past two works, a strong sense of the city can be seen, will the rural scenery of Hualien bring her new inspiration?

Huang Ai-Chun

An artist with multiple identities, she creates with her right hand, teaches with her left, steps on the world with both feet, while having a baby girl on the back. She freely switching between painting, sculpture, digital animation, writing and other different media, dragging her suitcases from Taiwan to all around the world, using artistic creation to translate the scenery she saw on the journey into a series of poetic view, and also interweaving her growth in the paintings.

Miao Castle

I like the view with light and faint uncertainty.
I like quietness, but also enjoy the noise.
I eat pictures and drink words.
I am a complex of contradictions.
I often switch between different roles, and sometimes I forget who I am.

The only thing for sure is that I can find myself while creating. It makes me feel like returning to my mother's womb.
